Hassira, Niger

Hassira had great admiration for her mother, who was not allowed to go to school while her brother did. Hassira was determined to do well in school so that she could be educated for the both of them. The night before her comprehensive BAC exam, Hassira's mother died in the bed beside her. 

Hassira has since graduated from high school and finished a degree in economics at the university. Because of her high scores, she was granted financial support outside of Expanding Lives. This year she will begin her Master's degree with our support. Hassira is recently married and lives in Niamey.
